Brantford railway station in Brantford, Ontario, Canada is a manned railway station for Via Rail trains running from Toronto west to Windsor.
Built in 1905, this station played a key role in Brantford’s economic development.[1] It brought markets, materials and labour into the city.[1] The Brantford railway station would become the "local" railway station for the nearby towns of Paris and Simcoe; who lack their own railway service due to economic reasons.
This station is wheelchair-accessible and is located near the junction of Market, Gray and West Streets. CN Gore Park is the closest park to the train station; with the Carnegie Library and the Brethour House being other attractions within a reasonable distance of the station.[1] Various incentives can be purchased for frequent travelers like VIA Gift Cards, Canrailpasses, Commuter Passes, and the VIA 6-pak. A self-service ticketing kiosk allows people to print out their own tickets. Brantford Transit offers automobile-free travel for residents of Brantford to and from the railway station.
It has been speculated that GO Transit may expand to Brantford by the year 2020;[2] replacing Aldershot as its western terminus for rail travel.
